Our Training

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) focuses on the connection between thinking patterns, our emotions, and behaviors. This therapy helps individuals identify their thoughts and how realistic they are, and modify these to better manage distress and engage in more effective coping. CBT is a goal-oriented, problem-focused approach, that emphasizes therapist-client collaboration. CBT can be highly effective in addressing a variety of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, panic, sleep difficulties and more.

  • Dialectical-behavior therapy (DBT) blends CBT with practices like mindfulness and focuses on social and emotional aspects. The DBT approach is skills based, and includes four main areas: mindfulness (being in the present moment), distress tolerance (managing strong urges), emotion regulation (managing strong emotions), and interpersonal effectiveness (communication and relationship skills).

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an action-based therapy focused on identifying one’s core values and focusing on aligning life choices/behaviors with those values. ACT integrates mindfulness-based strategies and encourages individuals to notice and embrace thoughts/feelings, instead of fighting to change or avoid them.

  • Specialized training from Postpartum Support International (PSI) on the utilization of evidence-based interventions to assist in symptom reduction for pregnant individuals during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.

  • This therapy is an approach that involves assessment of a couple’s relationship, and incorporates research-based interventions. Goals of this model include: effective verbal communication, increasing intimacy, respect, and affection, and cultivating empathy and understanding within the the relationship.
